Cheerful and bright

On a bright sunshining day

the sun smiles and is beaming away

as she sees the children down below

play in the warmth of her glow.

But on dark dully days

when a thick deck of clouds lays

over the fields and over the towns

the sun sighs and frowns.

She doesn’t succeed in chasing them off

They stay put, they sneeze and cough

until rain pours and makes everything wet.

That is when the sun really gets mad.

She makes herself strong and tries even more

until the sky is as blue as before.

Then she lets her light dance al over the place

until everyone has a big smile on their face.

She is happy seeing people enjoying the day,

and the children cheerful and gay,

laughing and playing on seesaw and swing

in summer, winter, autumn and spring.

Dear sun, we know you can’t shine every day

but we know when your out, you’re willing to stay.

Then shine, make us happy and give us your light,

make our days warm, cheerful and bright!
