The children take turns

The next day Rose pays extra attention

to every thing her teacher says, so she can tell

her little friend all about the words she learned.

The children take turns in saying a word

that starts with the letter the teacher points out.

And if they find it hard to do, she’ll help them

by forming her mouth in the way the letter

has to be pronounced. She also teaches them

the different meaning of the words hour and flower,

even though they’re much alike in sound.
